Hypertension drug developer Retension (RTSN.US) applies for US listing, plans to raise $58 million.
U.S. hypertension drug developer Retension Pharmaceuticals filed documents with the SEC last Friday, planning to raise up to $58 million through an initial public offering (IPO).
According to Golden Ten Data, Retension Pharmaceuticals, a US-based developer of hypertension medications, submitted documents to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) last Friday, aiming to raise up to $58 million through an initial public offering (IPO). The company previously submitted a confidential IPO application on December 31, 2025. Retension Pharmaceuticals plans to list on Nasdaq under the stock code "RTSN," but has not yet disclosed the pricing terms of its IPO.
Founded in 2023, Retension Pharmaceuticals is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company currently focusing on the development of a single product, RTN-001. This is a once-daily oral PDE-5 inhibitor designed for the treatment of uncontrolled hypertension and resistant hypertension. First-generation PDE-5 inhibitors (such as Viagra) have never achieved meaningful blood pressure-lowering effects. The company believes this is because such drugs struggle to adequately penetrate the central vascular system rich in smooth muscle, whereas RTN-001 has been redesigned to improve bioavailability and increase its distribution in these tissues.
The drug was originally developed by Surface Logix, and subsequently passed through Nano Terra, Kadmon, and Sanofi, until the current team re-licensed it in 2023, bringing with them data from nine completed trials, including two Phase 2 trials. The company launched a Phase 2b dose-exploration trial involving 280 patients in October 2025, with about 40% of patient enrollment completed. Preliminary data is expected to be released in the first half of 2027.
