According to Saudi national television, the Saudi Energy Minister announced on Monday that Saudi Arabia has discovered 110 million tons of uranium-bearing ore. Geological studies show that uranium concentrations are higher in the Medina region. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is also assessing whether it can recover uranium as a by-product from its vast phosphate industry. However, it is important to note that 110 million tons of uranium-bearing ore does not mean Saudi Arabia has found 110 million tons of uranium. The amount of uranium that can ultimately be extracted will depend on ore grade, geological conditions, and the economic feasibility of extraction. Nevertheless, the significance of this discovery cannot be underestimated, as Saudi Arabia is moving forward with plans to incorporate nuclear power into its energy mix.
