ASML plans to develop a new solution to produce advanced chip manufacturing equipment with larger surface area

ASML stated that it plans to cooperate with major clients to develop new solutions capable of producing the most advanced chip manufacturing equipment, in order to meet the demand for large data center chips designed by companies such as NVIDIA. Currently, ASML’s widely used extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines can manufacture chips up to approximately 800 square millimeters in size. The next-generation “high numerical aperture” EUV lithography machines, which ASML is about to launch, will be able to produce even more refined chips. However, due to the use of smaller masks, there are currently limitations regarding the maximum chip size that can be manufactured. ASML plans to demonstrate an experimental production line with larger masks by 2031, and aims to enable mass production of this new technology by 2033.
