The US Department of Energy stated that crude oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz have significantly recovered, with daily volumes rising above 8 million barrels.
智通财经2026/08/22 05:46- U.S. Secretary of Energy Wright revealed on social media that the U.S. military has assisted in facilitating the passage of more than 15 million barrels of crude oil and petroleum products through the Strait of Hormuz. Including regional pipeline transport volumes, total outflows from the Gulf region have approached 20 million barrels.
- Wright stated that the average daily crude oil flow through the strait in the past seven days has rebounded to above 8 million barrels, a significant improvement from the second quarter’s daily average of 4.9 million barrels caused by conflicts and shipping restrictions. However, it remains well below the pre-conflict daily average of about 21.6 million barrels.
- According to monitoring agencies, since June 20th, more than 1,000 instances of “U.S. military assistance” with transits have been recorded. The average daily number of transits has increased from around 4.5 to about 35.5 within roughly one month. At the same time, the U.S. military continues to enforce a blockade on vessels attempting to head to Iranian ports or coastal areas, having intercepted 67 ships and boarded and inspected 2 vessels so far.
- The regional security situation remains highly volatile. On August 18th, there were two incidents of vessels being attacked, resulting in the death of one crew member. The cumulative number of crew casualties during the conflict has reached 19, and the process of restoring navigation in the strait still faces uncertainties.
