According to a report by Nikkei News, SoftBank Group plans to issue approximately 1 trillion yen (USD 6.26 billion) in corporate bonds to retail investors in Japan, which is expected to set a record for the largest corporate retail bond issuance in Japan. This will be SoftBank Group's third retail bond issuance this year, following two previous issuances in April and June. The bonds will have a 7-year maturity, and the specific terms (including the interest rate) will be determined in early September. Analysts expect the coupon rate to be above 4%. SoftBank Group plans to use the funds raised for bond redemption and investment in physical artificial intelligence, including corporate acquisitions. The company previously announced plans to spend USD 5.4 billion to acquire the robotics division of Swiss engineering company ABB.
