Most Malaysian palm oil spot prices strengthen, with forward contracts seeing progressively larger gains each quarter
智通财经2026/08/17 10:46- On Monday, quotations from the Malaysian palm oil spot market showed that the near-month contract for refined, bleached, and deodorized palm oil was priced at USD 1,157.50 per ton, a slight increase compared to the previous trading day, with deferred contracts seeing larger gains quarter by quarter.
- The near-month price for refined palm olein was quoted at USD 1,162.50 per ton, the October–December contract rose to USD 1,210, and the contracts for the first and second quarters of next year were quoted at USD 1,260 and USD 1,265 respectively, reflecting market pricing for a relatively tight forward supply.
- Prices for refined palm stearin and palm fatty acid distillate for nearby delivery remained unchanged at USD 1,130 and USD 1,080 per ton respectively, with spot demand relatively steady.
- The near-month quotation for crude palm oil delivered in southern Malaysia remained stable at MYR 4,590 per ton, and the palm kernel oil quote also showed no change.
- Overall, the forward curve for refined products exhibits a quarter-by-quarter upward structure, suggesting the market anticipates tighter supply or demand in the future. Attention should be paid to production data from major producing regions and the purchasing pace of key importing countries for their further impact on spot premiums and discounts.
