On August 17, AstraZeneca (AZN.US) and Daiichi Sankyo jointly announced that the Phase III DESTINY-Lung04 study of Enhertu (trastuzumab deruxtecan) as a monotherapy for first-line treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has achieved highly positive results.

According to Jinse Finance APP, on August 17, AstraZeneca (AZN.US) and Daiichi Sankyo jointly announced that the III phase DESTINY-Lung04 study of Enhertu (Trastuzumab Deruxtecan) as monotherapy in first-line treatment for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has achieved highly positive results.

This study is a global, randomized, multi-center, open-label clinical trial (n=454), evaluating the efficacy and safety of Enhertu compared to standard treatment (Pembrolizumab combined with platinum-based doublet chemotherapy) as a first-line therapy for patients with unresectable locally advanced or metastatic non-squamous NSCLC carrying HER2 exon 19 or exon 20 mutations. The primary endpoint of the study is progression-free survival (PFS).

The results showed that patients in the Enhertu group achieved a statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement in PFS compared to the standard treatment group. The study will continue as planned to assess secondary endpoints, including overall survival (OS).

It is worth mentioning that Enhertu is the first ADC drug in a phase III study to successfully prove that monotherapy can improve PFS compared to standard treatment as a first-line therapy for NSCLC patients.
