Canada Goose Holdings logged a narrowed loss in its first quarter as revenue rose thanks to strong demand for its year-round product lines.
For the three months ended June 28, the Canadian premium lifestyle and outdoor apparel company on Thursday a posted a net loss of 93 million Canadian dollars ($66.2 million), or C$0.93 a share, narrowed from a wider loss of C$125.5 million, or C$1.29 a share, in the comparable quarter a year ago.
Adjusted earnings were C$0.89 a share. According to FactSet, analysts were expecting C$0.99 a share.

Direct-to-consumer revenue was up 8.6% to C$84.8 million, thanks largely to its performance in Asia Pacific and North America, but comparable sales fell 3.2%. Meanwhile, wholesale revenue jumped nearly 67% to C$29.8 million, primarily due to shipping larger planned wholesale order book and strong in-season orders from its partners.
The company, which has been shifting its focus from primarily a winter-clothing company to offer more year-round products, said that it has continued to expand that with apparel, rainwear and windwear, which has supported revenue growth.
"We're successfully evolving Canada Goose into a year-round luxury brand, with customers engaging across more seasons and categories," Chairman and Chief Executive Dani Reiss said.
The company has also been promoting its spring and summer lines with its marketing campaigns, aimed at expanding brand reach through a mix of performance and brand-building investments.
Because of its expanded product lines and an expanded wholesale order book, inventory rose 11% to C$489.9 million.
