Crypto assets account for 37% of President Trump’s wealth
A recent report by the State Democracy Defenders Fund (SDDF) estimates that cryptocurrency holdings could make up as much as 37% of President Donald Trump’s total wealth.
This figure is based on analysis of various income streams linked to Trump’s crypto ventures, including his eponymous meme coin, $TRUMP (CRYPTO:TRUMP), and the DeFi project World Liberty Financial, which issues the WLFI (CRYPTO:WFLI) governance token and a USD1 stablecoin.
The exact value of Trump’s crypto holdings remains difficult to determine due to fluctuating token prices and undisclosed details about his agreements with entities such as Meteora.
The report notes that insiders affiliated with Trump control 80% of the $TRUMP meme coin supply, but it is unclear how much of this is directly owned by the Trump family.
Additionally, the SDDF highlights the opacity surrounding trading fees, citing a study suggesting transaction fees could have reached $100 million in January 2025, though current figures and terms of special arrangements remain unknown.
Similar challenges exist in assessing income from World Liberty Financial, as contracts and financial agreements have not been publicly disclosed despite clear indications that the Trump family benefits financially.
The report raises concerns about potential conflicts of interest, given Trump’s active role in shaping crypto regulation while holding significant investments in the sector.
“In just a few short months, President Trump has substantially increased his wealth due to his business’s foray into a series of crypto asset offerings,” the SDDF stated, adding that these ventures “may account for nearly 40% of his wealth.”
Trump’s involvement in crypto includes championing stablecoin regulation and reducing federal enforcement, moves that could create opportunities for his crypto interests.
The SDDF’s findings underline the difficulty of tracking the president’s financial ties to crypto projects and highlight an unusual situation where a sitting president has substantial economic entanglements in a high-risk industry.

Tonight the Fed rate hike is almost certain; the market is closely watching Waller's remarks: will a signal of continued rate hikes be released?
What the market truly cares about is: the dot plot will reveal how many more rate hikes are expected this year, and whether Waller will send signals of ongoing tightening. Citi predicts this will be a “dovish hike”; Goldman Sachs bluntly states that this rate hike lacks sufficient economic basis; Standard Chartered believes the hike itself is a policy mistake. If there’s a signal of aggressive consecutive hikes, it could trigger market turmoil; the most dangerous tail risk is an unexpected pause, which could spark a credibility crisis and sharp equity sell-off.
