Stock Market Today: Tech Stocks Rebound After Friday's Selloff -- WSJ
Dow Jones2026/10/19 18:55By Rebecca Feng
Tech stocks are staging a recovery.
After a bleak end to last week, the Nasdaq composite has jumped over 1%, while the Dow industrials and oil prices are muted. Treasury yields are moderately higher.
Some of the tech names beaten down the most last week are rallying hardest today. Intel is up 3.5% after its 14% decline last week. Micron and Marvell are up up more than 3%, while the PHLX Semiconductor index has advanced 2.5%.
In Europe, the picture is less rosy. Major stock indexes are in the red and French government bonds are selling off after nationwide cost-of-living protests spiraled out of control over the weekend.
The demonstrations underscored how hard it will be for any government to curb public spending, at a time when the country's debt is ballooning. Longer-dated French bonds are reversing what had been a nascent recovery over the past week, pushing up the government's borrowing costs. The euro has slipped against the dollar.
