12:59 PM EDT, 10/15/2026 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with index/price moves, macroeconomic data, and company/geopolitical news from the first paragraph.) US equity indexes traded mixed as a rotation out of technology stocks coincided with a slump in government bond yields and gains in defensive names, following the release of producer price inflation and retail sales data. The Nasdaq Composite fell 0.6% to 26,546.2, the S&P 500 slipped less than 0.1% to 7,717.5, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.9% to 52,062.6 after midday Thursday. Healthcare, materials, and consumer staples topped the gainers. Most US Treasury yields declined, with the two-year down 3.6 basis points to 4.77%. The 10-year yield sank 9.7 basis points to 5.09%, and the 30-year rate plunged 10 basis points to 5.42%. US producer prices jumped at the fastest pace in more than four years in September, driven by a surge in energy costs. The data follows Wednesday's report showing an acceleration in consumer prices last month, fueled by a surge in gasoline. The cost of protecting CoreWeave's (CRWV) debt against default for five years rose Thursday by as much as 74.5 basis points to 1194.5 basis points, an intraday record, with swaps pricing in a chance of default at over 60% within the next five years, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing data from ICE Data Services. The PHLX Semiconductor slumped 1.7% after midday, its seventh consecutive day of declines adding up to more than 10% cumulative. Nine of the bottom 10 were technology names among stocks with market capitalization exceeding $200 billion, according to data compiled by Finviz. Dell Technologies (DELL) led decliners for a second day, down 8.3%.
