Treasury Yields Hold Below Recent Highs -- WSJ
Dow Jones2026/10/14 14:39By Sam Goldfarb
Wednesday's firm inflation reading has driven bond yields higher again. But there still is some good news for investors.
Treasury yields, which rise when bond prices fall, jumped immediately after the report but have already given up some of their gains. The increase in yields is also being led by those on short-term Treasurys-which are especially sensitive to changes in interest rates set by the Federal Reserve but have less of an impact on the economy and markets than longer-term yields.
In recent trading, the yield on the 10-year Treasury note was 5.270%, according to Tradeweb. That was up from 5.216% Tuesday but still comfortably below the 24-year intraday high of 5.365% hit a week ago when selling in Treasurys was more disorderly.
Wednesday's report has boosted the odds of a rate hike as soon as this month, but traders still don't appear to be viewing it as a seismic event that would push the Fed to raise rates much more aggressively than previously anticipated.
