Viking Therapeutics Starts Phase 3 Program for Oral VK2735 in Adults With Obesity

07:45 AM EDT, 10/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Viking Therapeutics (VKTX) said Wednesday it has started the phase 3 clinical program for the oral formulation of its investigational GLP-1 product VK2735 in adults with obesity. The program includes two studies, one in adults with obesity and without type 2 diabetes, and another in adults with both obesity and type 2 diabetes, the company said. Both trials' primary endpoint is the percent change in body weight from baseline after 68 weeks, the company said. Secondary and exploratory endpoints include varying percentages of body weight reduction from baseline, Viking Therapeutics added. The company said it is also evaluating the subcutaneous formulation of VK2735 under a separate phase 3 program.
