Alvotech, Advanz seek EU nod for high-dose Eylea biosimilar

06:16 AM EDT, 10/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Alvotech (ALVO) and Advanz Pharma submitted a regulatory application for AVT29, a proposed biosimilar to Eylea 8 mg, in Europe, Alvotech said Wednesday. Alvotech said the application was submitted as a line extension to the existing European marketing authorization for Mynzepli or AVT06, Alvotech's biosimilar to Eylea 2 mg. Eylea is administered through injections into the eye to treat certain retinal diseases, the company said. The 8 mg version is marketed as Eylea HD in the US. Under the partnership, Alvotech is developing and commercially supplying AVT06 and AVT29, while Advanz Pharma is responsible for registration and commercialization in Europe, the company said. Advanz holds exclusive commercialization rights in Europe, except in Germany and France. Shares of the company were up more than 2% in pre-bell activity on Wednesday.
