05:35 AM EDT, 10/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Oshkosh's (OSK) defense unit partnered with Michigan Technological University's Advanced Power Systems Research Center to advance a mobile power generation system for military vehicles, the company said Wednesday. The kit can generate up to 120 kilowatts of power at 600 volts of direct current to support battlefield systems, including counter-drone, directed-energy and missile defense systems, as well as field hospitals, while meeting standards for interoperability with other field power systems, the company said. The partnership aims to bring the prototype into production for Oshkosh Defense's FMTV A2 vehicles, with two prototypes set for government and soldier evaluation and additional units planned for testing, it added. Michigan Tech will also begin building two additional units for further testing and technology demonstrations as the team finalizes technical documentation and refines the design for manufacturing, Oshkosh said.
