04:23 AM EDT, 10/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Fluence Energy (FLNC) has signed an agreement with Vattenfall to build a battery storage facility at the decommissioned Brunsbuttel nuclear power plant in northern Germany. Fluence will deliver the project on a turnkey basis and also provide long-term operational service support, according to the company. With an output capacity of 254 megawatts and more than 1,000 megawatt-hours of storage, the project will almost double Vattenfall's battery storage portfolio, it said. The facility will use Fluence's Gridstack Pro 5000 platform, which includes battery systems, power conversion equipment and energy management software, the company said. The companies said construction is expected to begin in 2027, with commissioning and connection to the 50Hertz 380-kilovolt transmission network planned for the end of 2028. Financial terms were not disclosed.
