Jensen Huang’s first stop in Europe is Paris: investing $2 billions in one week, funding four French AI startups
Nvidia has invested in the French startups Doctolib and Genesis AI, but the amount of the investment has not been disclosed.
According to Jinse Finance, American chip manufacturer NVIDIA (NVDA.US) has agreed to invest in two French tech startups, Doctolib and Genesis AI, both companies said on Tuesday.
Doctolib stated that NVIDIA has agreed to acquire a minority stake in the company, but did not disclose the size or value of the shareholding. However, the company noted that NVIDIA’s involvement will assist in the development of its artificial intelligence tools.
Genesis AI confirmed earlier media reports. In a statement, the company said: “We are pleased to have NVIDIA as a strategic investor in Genesis AI.” NVIDIA has also invested in Entalpic and Pigment.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated that the new investments in French startups Doctolib, Genesis AI, Pigment, and Entalpic are part of its European strategy.
Speaking at an event in Paris on Tuesday, Jensen Huang said the company plans to announce $2 billion in investments in Europe over the next week. Paris is the first stop of his European trip, which will also include visits to London and Berlin.
NVIDIA is the chip manufacturing giant at the heart of the artificial intelligence boom. Jensen Huang has pledged to invest tens of billions of dollars globally to accelerate the adoption and application of this technology and its products. However, as Huang arrives in Europe, AI technology faces growing public resistance. From concerns over uncontrolled AI models to the environmental impact of high-energy data centers, a range of issues is fueling calls for limits on AI development. Europe and the United Kingdom are seeking to play a role in mitigating potential AI risks.
Jensen Huang said at the event: “Europe needs to join this race.”
Jensen Huang opposes calls to slow down AI development. He stated that AI will drive economic growth and can be developed safely. After a series of widely publicized safety incidents involving AI agents, industry leaders including Anthropic PBC CEO Dario Amodei and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman are now considering how to pace AI development.
