Syndax Pharmaceuticals' Axatilimab Trial in Pulmonary Fibrosis Misses Primary Endpoint

MT newswireMT newswire2026/10/12 20:50
04:50 PM EDT, 10/12/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Syndax Pharmaceuticals (SNDX) said Monday its phase 2 MAXPIRe trial of axatilimab in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis failed to meet its primary endpoint of annualized forced vital capacity decline, and the company does not plan further development of the drug for the indication. The company said axatilimab was well tolerated, with a safety profile comparable to placebo and no new safety signals. The trial enrolled 145 patients and evaluated treatment over 26 weeks. Syndax said the results do not affect ongoing axatilimab trials in chronic graft-versus-host disease. It added that further results are expected later this year and in early 2028. The company's shares were down more than 16% in after-hours trading.
