U.S. Core Inflation Data Key For Dollar's Direction -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/10/12 08:540854 GMT - The dollar's reaction to U.S. inflation data for September on Wednesday hinges largely on the core measure which strips out volatile energy and food prices, Monex Europe analysts say in a note. With current market implied odds of the Federal Reserve raising interest rates again in October below 20%, higher-than-expected core inflation would boost expectations and extend the DXY dollar index's grind above 102, they say. "A soft reading, in contrast, can only trim near-term pricing at the margin, leaving the balance of risks tilted to the upside for the [dollar]." The DXY rises 0.1% to 102.318. (renae.dyer@wsj.com)
