[Ecuador's State-Owned Oil Pipeline System Suspends Operations Due to Pump Station Fire] On October 3 local time, Ecuador's state oil company announced that the country's main state-owned oil pipeline system—the Trans-Ecuadorian Oil Pipeline System (SOTE)—suspended operations that day due to a fire at a pump station located in Napo Province. The state oil company stated it has requested the intervention of the National Oil Crime Investigation Unit and the National Police Rescue Team to conduct an investigation. Reportedly, the Trans-Ecuadorian Oil Pipeline System has a total length of approximately 500 kilometers and serves as a key pipeline for transporting crude oil extracted from the Amazon region.
