Sector Update: Healthcare Stocks Rise Late Afternoon

03:52 PM EDT, 09/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Healthcare stocks rose late Monday afternoon with the NYSE Healthcare Index and the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) each adding 0.3%. The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) rose 0.8%. In corporate news, Eli Lilly (LLY) plans to pursue larger pharmaceutical deals as it looks to expand into new therapeutic areas, Bloomberg reported, citing an interview with CEO David Ricks on the sidelines of a diabetes conference in Milan. Ricks cited infectious disease, women's health, and psychiatric conditions as possible areas of opportunity in a broadening search for pharmaceutical deals, the report said. Lilly shares were up 0.2%. 10x Genomics (TXG) shares rose 3.4% after Argus Research initiated coverage of the stock with a buy rating and a $110 price target. Kodiak Sciences (KOD) shares surged 187% after the company said its two experimental eye drugs, Zenkuda and tabirafusp-ted, met primary endpoints in a phase 3 trial in people with wet age-related macular degeneration. AbbVie (ABBV) shares rose 1% after the US Food and Drug Administration approved Juvmo tablets to treat adults with Parkinson's disease.
