Preliminary data on crude oil shipments from the Persian Gulf: 36 VLCCs loaded during the week

⑴ During the week of September 19 to 25, 36 VLCCs (Very Large Crude Carriers) completed loading in the Persian Gulf, with the lower limit of shipped volume set at over 10 million barrels per day. ⑵ Saudi Arabia led with approximately 6 million barrels per day, higher than the 2025 level. ⑶ The United Arab Emirates stood at about 2 million barrels per day, in line with the 2025 average. ⑷ Basra was around 1.7 million barrels per day, lower than the 2025 average of 3.3 million barrels per day. ⑸ The institution notes that the method is still under testing and the data is not conclusive. ⑹ From a market perspective, strong Saudi shipments partially offset Basra’s lower volume, but Iraq’s continued exports below average reflect ongoing supply constraints. Further attention should be paid to loading data and adjustments to export expectations following any methodological revisions.
