General Mills Confronts the AI Grocery Era -- WSJ
Dow Jones2026/09/23 15:45By Jesse Newman
Food companies are girding for AI to take over grocery shopping.
"We know just in this last month alone that 40% of consumers used an AI tool to make a purchase in food," General Mills Chief Operating Officer Dana McNabb said on Wednesday. "I mean, who knows, but our early estimates are that agentic commerce will be about 20% of food sales by 2030."
McNabb said the maker of Cheerios and Pillsbury dough is working to stay ahead of the curve by making sure that information about its products is accurate and that they are easy to find and purchase.
"It is still very early in the agentic space and we have lots to learn," McNabb said.
