Russia’s Biggest Crypto Move Yet: 5 Coins Worth Risking as Perpetual Futures Hit the Market

  • SOL is the only coin in this five-coin group directly represented in the Moscow Exchange’s new crypto perpetual futures.
  • XTZ, ZRO, UNI, and SPX are not part of the current contracts, making their connection to the Russian development indirect.
  • Russia’s regulated crypto market is expanding, creating additional links between digital assets and traditional financial infrastructure.

Russia has taken another step toward regulated crypto trading after the Moscow Exchange introduced perpetual futures linked to major digital assets. The move brings more attention to altcoin liquidity and derivatives activity.

The contracts cover Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, and Tron, with trading restricted to qualified investors. The products are quoted in U.S. dollars but settled in Russian rubles, meaning traders receive price exposure without taking delivery of the underlying cryptocurrencies.

Solana (SOL): The Direct Connection

Solana has the strongest link to the latest development because SOL is one of the assets covered by the new perpetual futures contracts. The products allow qualified investors to gain exposure to Solana’s price without directly purchasing or holding the token.

The contracts are settled in Russian rubles, while their reference values are based on U.S.-dollar prices. This gives SOL a new connection to Russia’s formal financial markets and adds another venue where traders can manage exposure to the asset.

Tezos (XTZ): Watching the Wider Market

Tezos was not included in the initial group of cryptocurrencies covered by the Moscow Exchange contracts. XTZ therefore has no direct connection to the newly introduced products.

However, the broader development remains relevant to the altcoin market. As regulated crypto trading expands, market participants may gain more ways to access digital assets through traditional financial infrastructure. That could influence liquidity conditions across the sector over time.

LayerZero (ZRO): Cross-Chain Focus

LayerZero also sits outside the current Moscow Exchange perpetual futures lineup. Its market story is instead tied to blockchain interoperability and the ability of different networks to communicate with one another.

For ZRO, the Russian development is therefore an indirect market event. Greater institutional involvement in digital assets could increase attention toward infrastructure projects, although the Moscow Exchange launch itself does not provide a direct trading product for ZRO.

Uniswap (UNI): DeFi Remains the Key Driver

Uniswap has not been added to the new perpetual futures contracts either. UNI remains closely associated with decentralized exchange activity and the wider decentralized finance sector.

The Russian development still provides a useful signal about how crypto products are gradually being connected with established financial markets. For UNI, however, decentralized trading activity remains a more direct factor than Russia’s latest derivatives offering.

SPX6900 (SPX): Higher-Risk Market Exposure

SPX6900 is another token outside the current Moscow Exchange lineup. Unlike SOL, there is no direct perpetual futures product for SPX through the exchange. Its performance is more closely linked to activity in the meme-token market, available liquidity, and changing trader interest. The Russian development may therefore affect SPX only through broader changes in crypto market participation.

A Wider Shift in Russia’s Crypto Market

The derivatives launch follows the implementation of Russia’s new cryptocurrency framework, which created different rules for qualified and non-qualified investors. The Bank of Russia has been developing a regulated structure for cryptocurrency transactions and related market activity.

The Moscow Exchange development also follows significant activity in crypto-linked derivatives. The exchange has reported substantial participation from qualified investors in its existing crypto-related futures products

Is the AI replacement wave overestimated? Barclays: Only 20% of core workplace skills can be highly replicated, but amplification effects are quietly spreading

The impact of AI on the workforce is milder, yet more profound than previously imagined. Barclays' latest research dispels the panic of a "replacement wave"—only about 20% of core professional skills can truly be replicated by AI, but its "amplification effect" permeates almost every corner of every profession. What is more concerning is that the demand for AI skills is spreading from tech positions to management roles, and the rise of physical AI could even make human professional skills a new, scalable form of intellectual property.
