Semtech Enables 50G Optical Fronthaul for 5G-Advanced Networks

05:58 AM EDT, 09/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Semtech (SMTC) now has full production availability of its mobile transport portfolio of 50G optical transition products, enabling the latest 5G-advanced radio deployments, the company said Monday. The move aligns with an industrywide transition to 50G optical interfaces, which can handle traffic driven by AI applications, the company said. Semtech said the portfolio supports several fronthaul configurations, including 10-kilometer duplex links, 15-kilometer bidirectional links and wavelength-division multiplexing and longer-range architectures. The products use Semtech's ClearEdge, Tri-Edge and FiberEdge technology families, Semtech added. The company said the portfolio supports current 5G-Advanced deployments and is designed to scale toward 6G through 2030. The products are now shipping in volume, Semtech said. Shares of the company were up 3.5% in recent premarket activity.
