XRP claims a 26.11% weight in Grayscale’s new Bitcoin-free crypto model

Grayscale’s new bitcoin-excluding model portfolio for financial advisors gives a target weight of 26.11% to its XRP fund.

This makes the token the second-largest holding behind Ether and puts XRP in the top three across the firm’s two flagship strategies.

Every strategy caps a single asset at 40%

Grayscale Investments announced the launch of its Model Portfolios suite on September 14 in a company announcement.

The products are marketed by the Stamford firm as pre-built allocations that manage asset selection, sizing, diversification, and rebalancing in one framework.

Grayscale delivers the models to financial platforms, which then make them available to advisors.

“Advisors are increasingly looking for ways to bring digital assets into client portfolios without having to build and maintain allocations asset by asset,” said Laurie Katz, Grayscale’s Global Head of Distribution.

The launch includes four strategies with different objectives: Core Plus, Leaders, Next Gen, and Infrastructure. They are market cap-weighted, rebalanced quarterly, and cap any single asset at 40%.

Advisors have full discretion over whether and how they employ the suggested weights.

The Next Gen portfolio does not have bitcoin in it at all, and that omission is what hoists XRP so high. As per a Grayscale allocation sheet as of Aug. 31, the Grayscale XRP Trust ETF (GXRP) is at 26.11%, behind the Grayscale Ethereum Staking Mini ETF at 42.34%.

The balance is apportioned to Grayscale Solana Staking ETF (GSOL) at 21.09%, Hyperliquid Staking ETF (HYPG) at 5.76%, Chainlink Trust ETF (GLNK) at 2.66%, Avalanche Staking ETF (GAVA) at 1.08%, and Sui Staking ETF (GSUI) at 0.96%. The strategy can include up to 10 eligible assets.

XRP alone constitutes the “Currencies” slice of the model, which amounts to 26.11%, according to Grayscale’s own sector breakdown. Smart-contract platforms make up 65.47%.

The same document reports the Next Gen model netting a return of 30.69% since inception, with no longer-dated performance figures yet available.

Ether alone leads Leaders at 38.57%

XRP’s weight shrinks when Bitcoin returns to the mix. GXRP is third in the Digital Assets Leaders model, which monitors the five largest eligible assets held in single-asset Grayscale ETPs, at 11.92%.

Ether is the leader in the portfolio at 38.57%, with Bitcoin at 37.25%. Solana is at 9.63%, and Hyperliquid is at 2.63%.

Bitcoin and Ether make up more than three-quarters of the Leaders allocation, so everything below them vies for a smaller pool. If bitcoin is stripped out, XRP’s share more than doubles.

The models come as demand for regulated XRP products runs warm. XRP exchange-traded funds continued an inflow streak in early September, with $12.29 million in a single session, even as US bitcoin ETFs experienced $120.24 million in outflows that day, Cryptopolitan reported.

GXRP of Grayscale contributed $2.98 million of that XRP total.

XRP funds have a history of holding up in Bitcoin sell-offs. The first US spot XRP ETF began trading on Nasdaq in November 2025, pulling in $243 million on day one of trading even as bitcoin dropped below $100,000.

The Grayscale model suite now offers a portfolio-level channel to complement the individual funds. Advisors can gain exposure to the price of XRP without holding the token directly.

XRP currently trades at $1.30 according to CoinGecko data. It’s down by 7.8% in the past 24 hours but remains in the green zone by 30.0% in the past 30 days.

Will “continual learning” AI extend the memory “shortage” until 2031?

Citi believes that as AI enters the era of "continuous learning" beyond simple training and inference stages, demand for HBM, server DDR5, and enterprise SSDs (eSSD) will experience explosive and simultaneous growth starting from 2027. While demand will surge rapidly, the supply side is constrained by HBM production capacity usage and slower technology migration, leading to expansion lagging far behind demand. This supply-demand imbalance is expected to continue until 2031.
