CLARITY Act Update for XRP Holders: Ripple CEO Drops a Statement Ahead of Cloture Vote

TimesTabloidTimesTabloid2026/09/15 12:03

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse went on X to make one thing clear: the CLARITY Act is not a compromise senators should feel reluctant about. It is a deal they should stand behind. He described it as “the product of real, substantive trades policymakers made to get here.”

His post replied to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who called the bill essential to ensuring America leads the global race for new technology. Bessent previously called Senators to vote yes, arguing that the bill’s failure would signal to America’s adversaries that it is not ready to lead the future of digital assets.

Garlinghouse acknowledged that concessions were made, but argued they were significant ones. In his view, the bill earned its support through that process.

The Case for Passing it Now

Garlinghouse has pushed for pragmatism in crypto legislation for months. “Perfect can’t be the enemy of good,” he wrote, restating a position he says he has held for some time. He pushed back against any reading of the bill as a fallback option.

He argued that Senators are not settling. They are backing something that deserves their full support. His message to the Senate was simple. “The world is watching, and voters are watching. Now is the time to vote yes.”

The XRP Army Responds

Garlinghouse’s post received a huge wave of responses from the community. BankXRP, a well-known commentator in the community, emphasized that regulatory clarity matters more than delay, and urged the Senate to vote yes without hesitation.

Another drew attention to Ripple’s growth, including processing roughly $16 trillion in transactions last year, a figure comparable to Visa’s total volume. He pointed out that only 0.1% of that currently settles on-chain through digital assets like XRP and stablecoins.

He argued that even a modest increase in on-chain settlement could add hundreds of billions in blockchain transactions. Experts believe XRP will directly benefit from the CLARITY Act. Passing the bill could help move more of that value onto the blockchain easily, and also attract external institutional investment and adoption.

Garlinghouse’s Position

Garlinghouse is not asking the Senate to accept something imperfect and move on. He argues the bill has genuine value, that the process that produced it was serious, and that a yes vote reflects real conviction. Garlinghouse supports the bill from the start, and the negotiations have produced a bill that many in the crypto space are satisfied with.

The CLARITY Act now sits before the Senate. Garlinghouse, Bessent, and much of the crypto community are watching the outcome closely.
