The American Engineers Union officials stated that Boeing (BA.US) and its union reached a tentative contract agreement on Friday, local time. This four-year proposal includes a general wage increase higher than the first proposal. The first proposal was overwhelmingly rejected by members of the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) in a vote on August 21. If approved, about 17,000 members of SPEEA's professional and technical divisions will receive a 10% salary increase on October 16, followed by a 4% increase per year from 2027 to 2030, plus performance-based increments. Ben Nemergut, Vice President of Production Engineering and Acting Chief Engineer at Boeing, stated in a press release: "Our final contract proposal addresses the top concerns raised by employees and the SPEEA bargaining team, including immediate wage increases and a significantly larger guaranteed wage pool." According to the union, the latest proposal also includes adjustments to remote work policies and overtime restrictions for members of the professional division.
