Iran reportedly resumes ballistic missile production as international oil prices remain near four-month highs
智通财经2026/09/11 01:26- According to The Wall Street Journal citing US and regional officials, Iran has resumed ballistic missile production in underground facilities using reserved components. Several underground sites have shown renewed activity, including the Khojir missile facility in southeastern Iran. Iran is also attempting to build new underground assembly sites to evade future US military strikes.
- US and Middle Eastern officials state that Iran is mainly assembling new missiles using existing components, at a scale below pre-war levels. However, the resumption of production indicates that it is not easy to completely dismantle Iran’s missile program. A spokesperson for the US Department of Defense said that the US has destroyed about 90% of Iran’s drone, ballistic missile, and military shipbuilding infrastructure, significantly weakening Iran’s missile and drone launch capabilities.
- Due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East, international oil prices pulled back slightly in early Asian trading on Friday after surging over 6% overnight to reach a nearly four-month high. Brent crude and US crude settled at $107.38 and $102.39 per barrel, respectively, maintaining most of their gains.
