Wirex adds Tempo as a settlement layer, paving the way for rapid adoption of stablecoin cards by businesses
Wirex, a global stablecoin infrastructure provider and a principal member of both Visa and Mastercard, has integrated Tempo’s blockchain technology into its platform. This integration, announced on September 10, 2026, allows Wirex’s partners to designate Tempo as their preferred settlement layer when launching enterprise-level stablecoin card projects.
This move comes amid Wirex’s ongoing rapid expansion. Its infrastructure reached an annualized on-chain transaction volume of $100 million within just 131 days of launch and doubled again in only 110 days, placing it among the fastest-growing stablecoin card platforms in the industry. The company provides a single integration point for fintech firms and digital platforms, covering regulated issuing, wallets, compliance, and stablecoin settlements. As a principal member of the two major card networks, Wirex holds its own licenses to issue cards.
Daniel Rowlands, General Manager of Wirex, stated that this cooperation will provide customers with fast, predictable, and private settlements, while Tempo’s consulting and engineering teams help shorten the path from integration to production.
Why Choose Tempo and What Does It Offer Enterprises?
Wirex’s decision to choose Tempo goes beyond the network itself. Incubated by Stripe, Tempo brings vast payments expertise and offers businesses end-to-end support for stablecoin card projects, from product design to official launch through its stablecoin consulting services. This service connects clients with experienced engineering teams to assist in designing cards and settlement flows, selecting and integrating infrastructure partners, and progressing architecture design, prototyping, and final productization. Tempo’s consulting service has already supported companies such as DoorDash, Deel, Klarna, Felix, and ARQ.
From a technical perspective, Tempo is a dedicated blockchain designed for large-scale stablecoin payments. Key features provided to Wirex partners include settlements in under one second, dedicated payment capacity, and predictable fees of less than one cent. Privacy is protected through Tempo Zones, which ensure the confidentiality of balances and transactions while supporting selective disclosure for audit and compliance purposes. Notably, network fees are paid in stablecoins, so companies do not need to hold separate gas tokens. Structured transaction data consolidates funds and settlement information onto the same rails, simplifying reconciliation processes.
Ani Narayan, head of market development at Tempo, noted that Wirex provides companies building on the network with a direct way to launch stablecoin-backed card programs, combining regulated card infrastructure with Tempo’s settlement layer and hands-on implementation support.
Looking ahead, the two companies plan to jointly bring more fintech and enterprise card projects onto the Tempo network, positioning their combined technology stack as an end-to-end option for organizations evaluating stablecoin-backed payment cards.
