- Fitch Ratings stated in a report on Wednesday that the rising yields of Japanese government bonds may prompt domestic institutional investors to keep more funds within the country.
- Fitch expects the Bank of Japan's policy rates to rise faster than the market anticipates in 2026 and 2027, supporting the yen exchange rate and increasing the relative attractiveness of domestic bonds.
- The Fitch analyst team pointed out that as inflation, monetary policy, and economic growth prospects in Japan push up domestic real interest rates, higher local yields will reduce the willingness of domestic institutions to pursue lower-yielding overseas assets.
