AI computing power demand ignites nuclear capital enthusiasm: Holtec (HNUC.US) plans IPO to raise 900 million dollars, targeting a 10 billion dollar valuation.
Nuclear supplier Holtec is seeking to raise up to $900 million through a U.S. initial public offering, as companies aim to profit from the growing electricity demand driven by data centers.
Zhitong Finance APP has learned that nuclear energy supplier Holtec Nuclear Corp. is seeking to raise up to $900 million through an IPO in the United States, as companies seek to profit from the growing power demand of data centers.
According to a filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Tuesday, Holtec plans to issue 50 million shares at a price between $15 and $18 per share.
Based on the upper end of this price range and the number of shares outstanding listed in its filing, Holtec's market value would reach approximately $10.2 billion.
Holtec produces steel and concrete storage casks for nuclear waste and is also a leading U.S. company involved in the decommissioning of closed reactors, including the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant north of New York City. The company is also developing its own reactor technology, and its small modular reactor (SMR) project received a $400 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy in December. Holtec aims to have these reactors in operation in the early 2030s.
This offering comes at a time when nuclear energy is attracting increasing attention as AI data centers look for ways to meet their growing electricity demand. However, as small modular reactors have yet to be commercialized in the United States, some nuclear energy stocks have seen pullbacks as investors await development progress.
Standard Nuclear Inc. was listed in July, but even after the company downsized its U.S. IPO, its stock price fell on debut. X-Energy Inc., which went public in April, has since seen its share price drop below its IPO issue price.
According to the filing, in the six months ending June 30, the company reported net profit of $205.6 million and revenue of $269.9 million; in the same period last year, net profit was $139 million and revenue was $286.6 million.
Holtec’s offering is led by JPMorgan, Guggenheim Securities, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, and Bank of America. The company expects its shares to be traded on the Nasdaq Stock Market and on the Nasdaq Texas Market with the ticker symbol HNUC.
