05:52 PM EDT, 08/31/2026 (MT Newswires) -- GrafTech International (EAF) said late Monday it will permanently close its graphite electrode manufacturing facility in Monterrey, Mexico. The company said it intends to wind down operations at the Mexican facility in phases, with production expected to conclude in early Q2 2027. The company plans to transition customer demand currently served by Monterrey to its graphite electrode manufacturing facilities in Calais, France, and Pamplona, Spain, it added. It expects the closure to improve manufacturing utilization, reduce costs and capital requirements, and concentrate production at larger and more efficient manufacturing facilities, the company said.
