Sector Update: Consumer

08:59 AM EDT, 08/31/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were declining pre-bell Monday, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) 0.2% lower and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) down 0.4%. GameStop (GME) shares were up 3.6% after the company said it expects Q2 net income of $290 million to $310 million, up from $168.6 million a year earlier.
