On August 31,

According to China News Service Economics’ check on Wind, spot gold had already fallen for three consecutive trading days, with a cumulative drop of 4.37%. As of press time,

Meanwhile, international oil prices surged sharply. As of press time, both Brent and WTI crude oil were up more than 2%, with Brent rising above the $90/barrel mark.

On the news front,
US Federal Reserve Chair Walsh sent a hawkish signal during his speech at the Jackson Hole global central bank annual meeting, prompting the market to significantly raise expectations for an interest rate hike
by
mid-2027.

According to a report from Iran’s Fars News Agency on the 30th, at about 22:00 local time (UTC+8), residents near Larak Island heard explosions. Other foreign media reported that the US carried out airstrikes on military installations located on the island.

According to the Islamic Republic News Agency, after the explosion, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran responded quickly, stating that the attack resulted in multiple Iranian military and civilian casualties and warning that the US attack on Larak Island would be met with “retaliation and punishment.”
