Levi, a widely followed finance expert, called attention to significant XRP whale activity after the cryptocurrency’s steep decline in August. In a recent video post, Levi urged XRP holders to track the accumulation patterns of large investors while the asset faced strong downward pressure.
XRP falls 69% from January peak, whales buy 380 million tokens amid $1.5 billion liquidation
Whale accumulation during XRP price drop
XRP dropped to $0.99 on August 11, marking the first time the token had reached this level in almost two years. According to Levi, this price point represented a 69% fall from the token’s January high.
Despite the heavy losses, Levi observed that large XRP holders increased their exposure. He indicated that more than 380 million XRP were added to the portfolios of major holders over several weeks as smaller investors exited their positions under stress.
Instead of focusing only on the falling price, Levi highlighted how large wallet holders reacted differently from retail investors. He described this behavior as a key signal for understanding market dynamics during periods of extreme volatility.
While XRP saw strong selling and a drop to $0.99, whale wallets accumulated hundreds of millions of tokens, suggesting that major players increased their holdings as smaller traders sold.
Levi also referenced on-chain data showing this accumulation trend. This activity coincided with XRP’s 69% decline from its prior peak, raising questions about large-scale investor sentiment during the downturn.
Increase in million-token wallets
Activity among wallets holding between 1 million and 10 million XRP intensified during the same period. Levi reported that these wallets collectively accumulated about 642 million XRP in a single month.
He stated that the number of wallets holding at least 1 million XRP rose above 2,000, with total holdings nearing 8 billion XRP. These developments, Levi argued, demonstrated that the downturn was used as an opportunity for major accumulation.
The increase in large wallet activity, particularly as prices bottomed, provided further evidence of shifting strategies among market participants.

Massive leveraged liquidations follow sell-off
Levi underscored the scale of liquidations triggered by the sharp price fall. Over $1.5 billion in leveraged positions were wiped out as the sell-off accelerated, before XRP rebounded sharply to $1.50.
He emphasized that while many retail holders panic-sold during the decline, some of the network’s largest wallets entered the market to buy at these lower price levels.
| XRP price low (August 11) | $0.99 |
| Percentage drop from January peak | 69% |
| Whale XRP accumulation (weeks prior) | 380 million XRP |
| Accumulation by 1M-10M XRP wallets (monthly) | 642 million XRP |
| Number of 1M+ XRP wallets | Over 2,000 |
| Total leveraged liquidations | $1.5 billion |
| Subsequent XRP recovery | $1.50 |
Panic selling by retail traders led to over $1.5 billion in liquidations, but large wallets increased their XRP holdings at the same time.
Accumulation strategy highlighted
Levi concluded that he would personally pursue a similar approach, suggesting he views market lows and high selling pressure as potential accumulation opportunities. He urged XRP investors to pay close attention to large wallet actions during periods of sharp market movements.
Levi’s core message targeted XRP holders, emphasizing that activity by whales in times of major price weakness may offer clues about broader market sentiment and institutional positioning.
