Qili Aluminum reports significant growth in Q2 net profit, with supply structure supporting regional premiums

⑴ The Q2 financial report released by Malaysia Press Metal Holdings shows that net profit attributable to ordinary shareholders was approximately 801 million ringgit for the quarter, a significant increase compared to about 484 million ringgit in the same period last year. ⑵ Operating revenue for the period was around 4.69 billion ringgit, while last year’s corresponding figure was approximately 4.19 billion ringgit. The simultaneous improvement in revenue and profit reflects a high level of industry prosperity. ⑶ The company plans to distribute a dividend of 2.5 sen per share, higher than last year’s 2 sen, indicating strong cash flow and management’s confidence in future business prospects. ⑷ In their commentary, management pointed out that supply-demand imbalances caused by production cuts at Middle Eastern aluminum plants are gradually easing, though the global supply gap may persist as new capacities in Indonesia and other regions still require time to ramp up. ⑸ Supply-side constraints, combined with shipping disruptions in the Middle East and Red Sea, continue to support regional aluminum demand, spot premiums, and freight rates, further strengthening regional pricing power. ⑹ Despite macroeconomic uncertainties, geopolitical risks, and inflationary pressures weighing on global demand sentiment, the group expects to deliver a solid performance for the year, supported by strong aluminum prices and elevated regional premiums.
