AstraZeneca, Amgen Phase 3 Trial Shows Tezspire Eases Swallowing Difficulties for EoE Patients

04:24 AM EDT, 08/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- AstraZeneca (AZN) and Amgen (AMGN) said Thursday their drug Tezspire met the primary endpoints of a Phase 3 trial treating eosinophilic esophagitis, a chronic inflammatory esophagus disorder. The medication met both primary endpoints by reducing tissue inflammation and easing swallowing difficulties at week 24 compared to a placebo, the companies said. The disease and symptom improvements were maintained through week 52 for both tested doses, they said. The companies also said the safety profile of the treatment during the study remained consistent with its previously approved uses. Shares of Amgen were down by over 1% in Thursday premarket activity.
