Sector Update: Tech

03:04 PM EDT, 08/26/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks advanced late Wednesday afternoon, with the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) up 0.9% and the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) fractionally higher. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index added 0.3%. In corporate news, Amazon-backed (AMZN) Anthropic will spend $45 billion to rent about 460 megawatts of AI cloud computing power from Nscale's flagship data center in West Virginia over six years, Bloomberg reported. Amazon shares were down 0.5%.
