Xinhua Finance New York, August 25 (Reporter Xu Jing) — On August 25, the most actively traded December 2026 gold futures contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange rose by $18.1, closing at $4715.9 per ounce, a 0.39% increase.
Gold prices remain firm, but the upward momentum is slowing, and the Relative Strength Index (RSI) has moved into the overbought region.
Economic data released that day showed that the four-week average employment figure from ADP in the United States was 11,750, higher than the previous quarter's 9,500.
Boston Fed President Susan Collins maintained a hawkish stance on monetary policy, emphasizing that inflation is still too high and expressing concerns about price stability.
Societe Generale analysts remain strategically optimistic about gold, considering it an important tool for hedging against policy uncertainty and believing it will continue to play a key role in diversified investment portfolios.
On the same day, the September silver futures contract price rose by 3.9 cents, closing at $69.420 per ounce, an increase of 0.06%.
