European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Track Slightly Lower in Monday Trading

11:15 AM EDT, 08/24/2026 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts started the week slightly lower late Monday morning, declining 0.16% to 1,978.70 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index. From continental Europe, the gainers were led by internet browser company Opera (OPRA) and consumer goods company Unilever (UL), which rose 1.9% and 1.8% respectively. They were followed by lender Banco Santander (SAN) and brewing company Anheuser-Busch InBev (BUD), which were up 1.2% and 1% respectively. The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company Cellectis (CLLS) and biotech firm BioNTech (BNTX), which dropped 5.1% and 4.2% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company argenx (ARGX) and telecommunications company Nokia (NOK), which were down 2.8% and 2.6% respectively. The gainers from the UK were led by communications group WPP (WPP) and education company Pearson (PSO), which advanced 3.4% and 2.1% respectively. They were followed by alcoholic beverage company Diageo (DEO) and hospitality company Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG), which increased 2% each. The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX), which fell 5.5%. It was followed by biopharmaceutical company NuCana (NCNA) and biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics (AUTL), which lost 2% and 1% respectively.
