ChartNerd warns $XRP holders of possible pullback at 50-week EMA

XRP’s current price structure has prompted renewed attention as market analyst ChartNerd identified striking similarities between recent trends and XRP’s behavior during 2022. He cautioned holders that further downside may occur before the cryptocurrency establishes a firmer base for any potential long-term breakout.

Analyst compares 2022 and 2026 XRP price action

ChartNerd, known for his detailed technical analysis in digital asset markets, compared the present XRP pattern to movements recorded in 2022. After the 2022 bear-market low, the crypto asset rallied nearly 90% and approached its 50-week exponential moving average (EMA). This was followed by a notable correction of about 45%, retracing much of the prior gains and retesting the previous breakout area.

The analyst described this correction as part of a typical foundation-building process. He now sees the 2026 XRP price trajectory unfolding in a similar fashion, with price action echoing many features from 2022.

ChartNerd advised investors not to be discouraged if XRP traces a comparable path of retracement before any sustained rally can develop.

A key indicator discussed by ChartNerd is the death cross—a technical pattern created when a short-term moving average crosses below a long-term moving average, generally viewed as a bearish signal. He noted that this development appeared in both 2022 and 2026, leading to further losses after XRP failed to reclaim the 50-week EMA.

XRP’s recent lows and resistance levels emerge

Highlighting further comparisons, ChartNerd indicated that while June 2022 established XRP’s bear-market bottom, the June low in the current cycle did not actually become the cycle’s final low. After momentarily holding above $1, XRP revisited that threshold and then marked a new low this month around $0.98.

From that recent low, XRP rallied toward its 50-week EMA, reinforcing ChartNerd’s parallel between the current price structure and the previous cycle.

He emphasized that the $0.98 threshold may be a significant technical level for investors to monitor, as the price action remains closely tied to its interaction with the 50-week EMA.

The 50-week EMA remains central for traders

ChartNerd identified the 50-week EMA, currently near the $1.50 to $1.60 range, as the critical barrier. If XRP tests this region but fails to break above it, the analyst warns that a renewed decline toward recent lows could follow, mirroring events seen in 2022.

Without making direct predictions, ChartNerd reiterated the importance of the 50-week EMA as a technical resistance zone and advised investors to pay attention to how XRP reacts around this level in the coming weeks.

For traders and investors assessing XRP’s prospects, the interaction with the 50-week EMA could signal whether another consolidation or pullback is likely before any sustained uptrend is possible.

Year XRP Rally Correction Critical Level
2022 ~90% rally to 50-wk EMA ~45% retrace $1 (bear-market bottom)
2026 Rally from $0.98 toward 50-wk EMA Potential correction if rejected $1.50–$1.60 (50-wk EMA)
