Morpho introduces Lend Callbacks to let limit orders earn variable yield while waiting to fill
If you’ve ever placed a limit order on a lending protocol and watched your capital sit there doing absolutely nothing, Morpho just built a fix for that specific brand of frustration.
The protocol launched Lend Callbacks on its Morpho Markets app, a feature that lets users earn variable yields on their lend limit orders until those orders actually get matched.
How Lend Callbacks actually work
In Morpho’s fixed-rate lending markets, users can place limit orders specifying the fixed rate they want. Previously, the capital backing those orders would just sit idle until someone took the other side of the trade.
Lend Callbacks change that equation. When a user places a lend limit order, the callback routes that capital into a variable-yield source in the background. The money keeps earning until the moment someone matches the order.
These callbacks are stateless and immutable contracts that execute atomically during the take() operation. When a borrower accepts the lend offer, the callback pulls the capital out of its variable-yield position and completes the fixed-rate transaction in a single, unbreakable step.
Users can also set a variable-rate floor while quoting a higher fixed rate on the order book. So if variable rates happen to spike above your fixed-rate quote, you get the better of the two scenarios until your order fills, at which point you lock in the fixed rate you originally wanted.
Building on existing infrastructure
Lend Callbacks build on Morpho’s fixed-rate lending stack, which includes components like Morpho Midnight and Tenor. Similar callback patterns have already been deployed for auto-renewals and vault integrations on Base.
What’s new is applying that pattern specifically to the capital efficiency problem in limit-order lending.
