Eurozone August Composite PMI Preliminary Value Rises to 52.1, Reaching an 11-Month High

The S&P Global Eurozone August Composite Purchasing Managers' Index preliminary reading rose from 52.0 in July to 52.1, marking the highest level since November and surpassing the market expectation of 51.7. The growth rate of new orders reached the fastest pace in 40 months, with export orders—including intra-Eurozone trade—rising for the first time since February 2022. The survey also indicated easing price pressures.
  2. S&P Global economists stated that manufacturing once again emerged as the best-performing sector, while the services sector continued to provide support, achieving relatively robust growth for the second consecutive month. Amid ongoing disruptions to Middle Eastern supply chains, precautionary inventory replenishment by firms supported the goods-producing sector. Growing demand for AI-related technology products and increased defense spending drove equipment demand, which particularly helped Germany achieve increasingly significant output growth.
