The market sold off Thursday after Treasuries retreated from Wednesday's rally, oil prices rose and Walmart, a component of all three major indexes, fell more than 9%, according to Jay Hatfield, chief executive at Infrastructure Capital Advisors.
"When oil goes up, rates go up, and the market goes down," he said.
