  1. According to data from the Confederation of British Industry, the balance of industrial orders in the UK reached £25 in August 2026, significantly recuperating from £45 in July and marking the largest single-month increase in over five years, better than the market expectation of £40.
  2. Although this reading remains within the contraction zone, it reflects improved risk resilience in the UK manufacturing sector, despite the ongoing economic disruption caused by the Iran conflict.
  3. Factory output expectations have also strengthened, with export orders entering positive territory for the first time since June 2022.
  4. Manufacturers continue to face considerable cost pressures, with sales price expectations rising from +11 in July to +22, mainly driven by a rebound in oil prices and heightened concerns over raw material costs.
