On August 20, the Shanghai Futures Exchange issued the “Announcement on Further Expanding the Participation Scope of Qualified Foreign Investors in Commodity Futures and Options Trading.” With approval from the China Securities Regulatory Commission, starting from September 10, 2026 (at 9:00 AM opening), the Shanghai Futures Exchange will further expand the range of commodity derivatives available to Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (QFII) and Renminbi Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (RQFII) (collectively referred to as qualified foreign investors), adding the following new commodity options: hot-rolled coil and stainless steel options.
