India’s crude oil imports in July rose by over 9% month-on-month, with refined oil exports also rebounding synchronously

  1. According to Indian government data, crude oil imports reached 21.41 million tons in July, an increase of more than 9% over June and a 13% rise year-on-year, indicating the country’s energy demand remains strong.
  2. As for refined oil imports, the total for July was 2.53 million tons, down nearly 2% from the previous month and a sharp decline of over 40% year-on-year. Meanwhile, refined oil exports increased by over 8% year-on-year to 5.03 million tons.
  3. In terms of fuel consumption, total consumption in July rose to 19.92 million tons, up about 3% from the previous month and reaching the highest level since March, reflecting active domestic economic activity.
  4. By product category, liquefied petroleum gas imports dropped month-on-month to 870 thousand tons, fuel oil imports increased to 233 thousand tons, aviation kerosene exports plunged over 32% year-on-year to 440 thousand tons, while gasoline and diesel exports rose year-on-year by 6.7% and nearly 9% respectively.
