PhotonPay Report: Latin America’s Payment Infrastructure Is Shifting from Local Real-Time Payment Innovation to Addressing Cross-Border Global Connectivity Challenges
Foresight News reported that PhotonPay, a stablecoin-centric payment operating system, has released an industry research report titled "The Next Payment Infrastructure in LATAM." The report indicates that Latin America's payment infrastructure is shifting from local real-time payment innovations to solving the challenges of cross-border global connectivity.
The report shows that local instant payments in Latin America have matured, but global settlement still relies on traditional correspondent banks or fragmented local arrangements. According to the report, accepting local payment methods is crucial for merchant conversion rates, but managing dozens of independent local integrations creates a significant operational burden. The region should leverage smart routing, unified API, automated reconciliation, and multi-rail access to transform the fragmented ecosystem into a manageable operational framework. The report states that LATAM's payment architecture will not converge on a single technology but rather encompass a multi-rail interconnected system covering fiat currency, local payment solutions, and digital assets.
