US July manufacturing output rises 0.2% month-on-month, in line with expectations

The Dow Jones opened down 0.2%, the Nasdaq fell 1.12%, and the S&P 500 dropped 0.58%. Leading tech stocks saw declines: Intel fell 4.13%, Super Micro Computer dropped 3.64%, and Qualcomm was down 2.65%. The Nasdaq Golden Dragon China Index slipped 0.93%, with Baidu down 9.38% and iQIYI falling 4.51%.

The main Nymex crude oil futures contract has just surpassed the $85.00 per barrel mark, now reporting at $85.04 per barrel, up 1.55% on the day.
